Genesis 1:1-3
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning —the first day.
Titus 3:3-7
3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Webster defines the Big Bang Theory in this manner: A theory in astronomy – the universe originated billions of years ago in an explosion from a single point of nearly infinite energy density. The only thing missing from this definition is the source of the nearly infinite energy. Thankfully, we have the Biblical account of how this occurred. God himself (the source of infinite power) created the universe. Then, from the darkness, He brought forth the light.
Similarly, my soul was empty and dark. My encounter with the creator with the universe changed everything. He created me anew and filled me with light and life. His salvation came not from what I did but from the same infinite source of power that sparked the creation of this great universe. Amazing grace; amazing God.
Dear God, thank you for creating the world and for creating a new heart in me. Amen.
