One Size Fits No One

Romans 12:4-6a

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.

Catalogs sell clothes in a variety of sizes.  Perhaps the most interesting is the “one size fits all” or “one size.”  In my experience, this size could be relabeled as “this size fits no one.”

Each person is wonderfully made, and there isn’t a garment invented that would look great on everyone.  Similarly, we are individually gifted to serve God.  He gives us each a different job to do.  To try to do someone else’s job doesn’t fit very well.  Our best comes from the utilization of our unique gifts.  Each person brings God’s best, and the combination of God’s gifts within the believers equips the church to serve God.

Father God, help us to understand that our uniqueness stem from the very unique gifts that You have given us.  Bless our uniqueness, God, and help us connect with others who serve God differently.  May You alone receive all of the praise and glory forever and ever.  Amen.
