How do you trust?

Proverbs 3: 5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]

We have some friends who love to hike. I hurt my knee during the last hike, and I apologized for slowing them down. My friend said, “If you aren’t enjoying what is around you, then you are doing something wrong. It’s not about how fast you finish; it’s about the beauty around you.”

I want to know what is around the bend. I want to see the end and have the plan to get there. Lately, God has been saying,”Trust me.” I have been less than trusting of this message. However, through different messages, I have come to realize that it’s not about the race to the end. It’s also about the beauty of where God has me right now.

This passage especially encourages me because it says that God will make our paths straight. So, I don’t have to see around what appears to be the next corner. If I have submitted to him and trust him, then I will have the straight paths that I need ahead.

Dear God, I want to learn to trust you more each day. It’s a continual process for me, and I long for those “straight paths” that come from submission to you. Help my eyes to be on you and where you have me rather than trying to peek at what comes ahead. One day at a time!

How do you measure up? Join me as we journey together and learn each day to trust God more and more.
