Are you being fed?

Psalms 81:10-16

10 I am the LORD your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

11 “But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own devices.

13 “If my people would only listen to me,
if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes!
15 Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him,
and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

While I am struggling with my personal battle with food, God has been giving me this verse about being fed.  Really fed.  I can see my own children when they were young and how they stubbornly turned their head while we tried to feed them.  They would lock their lips tight and try not to receive the good food that we were giving them.  How much more do we act stubbornly and refuse to receive the blessings that God has for us.  Like small children, we won’t allow God to feed us.

The scariest thought to me is that if we don’t line up with God that He might leave us to our own devices.  Now that is scary!  The promise if we do line up with him is that he will take care of our enemies.  It’s spiritual warfare – be with God or fight his blessings and be left to your own devices.

Oh God, please help me to receive your blessings and to not refuse what you want for me.  As Charles Stanley often says, “Trust God and leave the consequences to him.”  This is what I want, Oh Lord.  I want to be fed.

How do you measure up?  Journey with me as we learn more about God’s plan for our lives and allow him to feed us.
