Matthew 28: 16 – 20
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Did you see the guy who was walking on the tight rope across Niagara Falls? Apparently, he fought not to wear a harness. The station executives, however, required that he have the safety equipment. Did you see the story about the 80 year old woman who was skydiving with a trainer for her birthday? Wow! What bravery!
In both cases, the individual had a bit of additional assurance that everything would be OK. The safety equipment must have increased their confidence to try such outrageous feats. As Christians, we can have similar assurance as God calls us to spread his word. We can be emboldened to share the good news that Jesus is alive. After all, the One who has all power over Heaven and Earth will be with us always — even until the end of time.
Our gracious heavenly Father, please help us remember Your power as we tell others about Jesus. We must remember that we can’t God, but we must also remember that You can. Amen and Amen.
