Reflecting God

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.  1 Corinthians 13:12

On our way to church the other day, our daughter (9) made the statement that we won’t see God until it is too late.  Then we will either be going to live forever with him or live forever without him.

I reminded her that we can see God in creation and in other people.  She said, “Oh, like a mirror?”  Yes!  Exactly!  Like a mirror!  When people look inside our hearts, they see a reflection of the one whom we represent.  If our heart is clean and shiny through His forgiveness and our relationship with Him, then they can see God in a really real way.  If we have allowed the dirt of this life to clutter the mirror, then they can’t see Him quite so well.

Dear God, please help me to be a mirror that reflects you.  Clean me with whatever means are necessary for others to look at my heart and see you.

How I long for the day that I can my eyes can see Him for real.  Until then, I am so thankful for the individuals in my life who have shiny mirrors and have clearly shown God’s love to me.

How do you measure up?  Is your mirror polished?  Please journey together with me as we look at our Christian lives through God’s standards and not through the dim eyes of men.
