This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:22-24
My daughter turned 9 this year. This means that if she meets the height requirement, then she can finally lose her booster seat. Her daddy measured her a few days ago, and she was found to be a half inch short. She stretched and stood straight, but she could not measure up to the required height. She simply fell short.
In our Christian walk, we all come up short when measured against the glory of God. We make attempts and try to follow God, but our human nature is such that we will sin. This sin keeps us from fellowship with our God. However, we can choose to believe in Jesus and accept his sacrifice for our lives. Through this relationship with Jesus, our sins are forgiven and we are made whole. Jesus’ blood is eternal, and He provides the eternal cleansing that we need to rectified to God and to become His children and His heir.
How do you measure up? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? If not, the process is simple and will change your life. We must admit that we are sinners, turn from our sin, believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and confess him as our Lord. The next step of obedience is following in His footsteps through baptism.
Oh Lord, we all struggle to measure up to who you are. Keep us from our prideful nature that compares our lives against our standards and those around us. Help us turn to seek your standard and your ways. I call upon your Holy Spirit to speak to the reader who does not know Jesus and help them find the eternal connection to a living God. I pray for blessings and understandings for each reader and for wisdom for the writer. I approach your loving throne in boldness knowing that you supply all of our needs even though we can only measure up by the grace provided through Jesus’ precious blood. Amen.
